Welcoming new students and honoring servant leader

Christ Chapel, Seminary of the Southwest

On Sunday, September 7 at 5:00 p.m. the seminary community and friends of Seminary of the Southwest will gather for a service of Evensong in Christ Chapel to welcome 33 newly enrolled students and to present the Charles J. Cook Award in Servant Leadership to Ms. Irit Umani, executive director of Trinity Center, Austin.

Named for Professor Emeritus Charles J. Cook, the award recognizes leaders whose life and ministry is guided by service to others.

The Very Rev. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge, dean and president, will preside and Academic Dean Scott Bader-Saye will preach at the service known as Matriculation. Recently appointed professor of Church History, Dr. Daniel Joslyn-Siemiatkoski will be installed during the service.

A reception to honor the new students, Ms. Umani and Dr. Joslyn-Siemiatkoski will follow in the Weeks Campus Center.
