Seminary and University of Texas launch program for area religious studies scholars

Dr. Margaret Mitchell, a University of Chicago professor, will present the inaugural lecture of the Central Texas Colloquium on Religion (CTCR) on Friday, September 18, at Seminary of the Southwest.

Dr. Mitchell, professor of New Testament and early Christian literature, will explore "The Corinthian Correspondence and the Birth of Christian Hermeneutics" at 4pm in Classroom 210 in the McDonald Building on the seminary campus. The lecture is open to the public without charge and free parking is available in the visitors lot at the southeast corner of Duval and East 32nd Street. Enter the lot from 32nd Street.

Seminary of the Southwest and the Religious Studies program at the University of Texas have launched the CTCR initiative for religion faculty and students in Central Texas. It seeks to advance intellectual exchange, critical dialogue and scholarly community among religious studies scholars. Any local scholar is welcome to join the group by contacting H. Haili Hillin at Southwest or Jared Diener or attending the Sept. 18 lecture.
