Considering part-time masters degree study

Nov 13, 2009

Considering part-time study toward a master's degree in spiritual formation, counseling or chaplaincy/pastoral care? Come to Seminary of the Southwest's Fall Visitors Weekend November 13-14.

Enrollment at the seminary - just north of the University of Texas campus - increased about 40 percent this fall. Southwest's Center for Christian Ministry and Vocation (CCMV) welcomed ten lay people into its new master's degree in spiritual formation program this semester. Fourteen other new students began studies toward a counseling or chaplaincy master's degree. Most of the 50 CCMV students work during the day and attend evening and weekend classes at Southwest.

Staged annually by seminarians, this Visitors Weekend event will give you a feel for the seminary community and its degree programs. There will be small group activities that allow for discussion of formation and vocational discernment, community life, finances, housing and academics. Students will be available to discuss why they chose Southwest and the impact of that choice. Opportunities to talk with Southwest faculty members will be many.

Registration deadline is Nov. 11. More information, photos and a registration link are on this website's Fall Visitors Weekend webpage. Admissions contacts are phone 512.439.0357 and email
