Registration open now for Certificate Program June 7-13 session
Looking for a way to enhance your ministry with youth or Christian education? The Certificate Program at Seminary of the Southwest offers a robust theological education, fellowship with colleagues and professional certification.
Registration is now open for the June 7-13 session on the Southwest campus in Austin. Certificate graduates now work in 23 Episcopal dioceses, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Republic of Panama.
The program offers instruction, discussion, theological reflection, practical ministry skills, worship and spiritual formation during one-week sessions in June and January. The program also provides a crucial nation-wide support network of fellow Certificate students and graduates - something most youth ministers and educators do not have - and opportunity for professional certification.
"A lot of the program's success is due to our faculty who welcome Certificate students with open arms. They fan the flames of student's eagerness to learn so they can fulfill their mission to teach our faith," said Molly Bennett, program director. Classes take place when regular Southwest semester classes are not offered so the Certificate students have the five-acre campus in central Austin to themselves as they share and build community, she said.
Cost for both one-week sessions is $1,800 a year including tuition, lodging and meals, in addition to professional certification. Contact Bennett by phone - 512.472.4133 ext 340 or email . Details are at the Certificate program webpage .
"The instructors are impeccable. Well-prepared, well-versed and articulate, while being willing to clarify and simplify," said a recent participant. Another said - "The people who come here are passionate, kind, fun-loving ... bonding in fellowship that truly reflects the face of God."
