The Harold H. and Patricia M. Booher Library is located on the southeast end of the Seminary of the Southwest campus. It houses over 100,000 books, nearly 1,000 print periodical titles, and over 10,000 electronic serial titles available via EBSCO databases through TexShare.
The library offers many valuable amenities. It is equipped with WIFI technology allowing Internet access via personal laptop computers. There are desktop computers in the lab for searching the library catalog, checking emails, performing research and word processing, as well as accessing useful Bible and liturgy planning software. There are also many study spaces that are available for use throughout the library.
However the Booher Library's greatest assets are its librarians. These highly qualified and knowledgeable librarians are here to help students, faculty and staff in the use of the library, how to access its many resources, and to provide both guidance and instruction in their areas of expertise. Each of them holds multiple degrees, including the graduate degree required by both their profession and this institution in Library/Information Studies.
Yet the Booher Library is more than the repository of the many useful resources needed for research and personal growth to the seminary community. It also provides a space for an informal and active forum for intellectual, spiritual and social thought in a relaxed atmosphere. Over a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate from the hospitality center the seminarians find both a refuge from their studies as well as a place to relax and bond with their classmates.
