Barkley Thompson
CCMV Faculty

The Rev. Barkley Thompson brings to his Spring 2010 online course his own experience as the rector of two parishes. The first - Church of the Holy Apostles in Collierville, Tennessee - was a restart parish that grew from 40 members to over 400 during his tenure. St. John's - the second church in Roanoke, Virginia - is an established, downtown parish that has seen average Sunday attendance increase by 35% and parish involvement much enhanced since his arrival. Barkley's ministry has been formed by many of the concepts and practices that will be explored in his course - Communities of Memory, Communities of Expectation: How to renew the liturgical church so the liturgical church can revitalize Christianity.
