Stanley Hauerwas slated to preach at Commencement

Seminary of the Southwest will hold its sixty-first commencement on Tuesday, May 8 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Austin. Dr. Stanley Hauerwas will preach at the 10:00 a.m. Eucharist.

The seminary will confer honorary doctorates upon Dr. Hauerwas, Gilbert T. Rowe professor of theological ethics at Duke Divinity School; the Rev. Martha Horne, dean and president emerita, Virginia Theological Seminary; and Dr. Russell Schulz, professor of church music emeritus, Seminary of the Southwest.

Master's degrees and diplomas will be awarded to graduates of Southwest and to graduates of Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest's theological education for emerging ministries program.

A reception honoring the graduates will follow the Eucharist in the St. Matthew's courtyard.
