Louisville, Ky. (April 4, 2012)—The Academy of Preachers announces registration for the 2013 National Festival of Young Preachers is now open. The event has slots available for 120 young people between the ages of 14 and 28 who sense God is calling them to a vocation of Gospel preaching. All participants will preach a 16-minute sermon based on the preaching theme “Gospel and the City.” The 2013 National Festival will be held January 2—5, 2013 at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead and will feature preaching, worship, music, workshops, and the first Academy-hosted Gospel Slam.
The Academy of Preachers seeks to Identify, Network, Support, and Inspire young people in their call to Gospel preaching. Energized by the conviction that preaching is a vocation of public and social significance, a calling worthy of the very best and brightest young people, the Academy of Preachers has provided more than 300 young people opportunities for preaching, networking, and spiritual growth through the National Festival of Young Preachers.
“Atlanta has all the components necessary for a memorable Festival: churches, schools, musicians, generous donors, talented young preachers, and media able to touch the world,” Dwight A. Moody, Founder and President of the Academy of Preachers, said. “These resources will propel the 2013 National Festival of Young Preachers to a new level of inspiration and influence."
The National Festival of Young Preachers is hosted each year in January. The event is not a competition. In addition to young preachers, the 2013 National Festival will welcome hundreds of attendees, special guests, musicians, exhibitors, and partners from across the country.
The Academy of Preachers is also accepting registrations for the 2012 Texas Regional Festival of Young Preachers. The Texas Regional Festival is scheduled for September 28-29 and has openings for 36 young people. The Texas Regional Festival will be jointly hosted on the campuses of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas.
