Haiti Project-Post 9

Haiti Blog Post 9- January 11, 2012

Carmel took us to two lovely places today.  Places that represent good and progress.  It was a good day for me.  She first drove us to the countryside right outside of the town of Croix-de-Bouquet.  The government is building homes and communities for those that lost their homes in the earthquake.  She said that the homes would be ready by December, so after 4 years people will finally move from their tents to a permanent place.  Although there are fewer tents than my last visit to Haiti, there are still thousands.  Carmel pointed out a tent city that has more than 8,000 people occupying it.  I hope a few of my pictures will load, but we have been struggling with pictures and the website.  It is so good to see this country moving forward.  It is amazing to think that a 40 second earthquake could do so much damage.

We also visited Double Harvest.  This is from Double Harvest’s website, “Double Harvest operates in third world countries to establish and develop agricultural projects by providing capital resources and implementing best practices to increase food production and to build the local economy.”  It was wonderful to see so much beauty, so many jobs, and good food being created!  Again, I hope my pictures tell the story better than I can.   Thanks be to God for the good that is happening in Haiti.

Blessings,
