Haiti Project-Post 8
Haiti Blog Post 8- January 10, 2012
Today we were able to see first hand the nutrition clinic. Although I have witnessed numerous clinics, I continue to be amazed at how sick so many children are. There was a little girl present today that was one, weighed 8 pounds, could not sit up on her own, and was the tinniest baby I had ever seen. She was so sick and tears welled in my eyes when I saw her. Carmel assures me that she is getting better since her mother has been bringing her to the clinic, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. I finally went up to her mother and asked if I could pray for her. Something within thought that I should bless her and I made the sign of the cross on her forehead. I know that I can technically bless anyone, but I thought God would be okay with the circumstances. I don’t know her name and I don’t know if she will live or die, but I am grateful that she is getting medical attention and I am thankful for her life. Please join me in prayer for the children in Haiti. One in twelve die of malnutrition every year. That is staggering number and I am so grateful that God has chosen Carmel as an instrument to do His work.
Blessings,
Mary Balfour
