Jimmie….
Jimmie has been the driver for Carmel and Pere Val since at least 2007 when I first came to Haiti. He is gracious, sweet, and is always looking out for me. When I went to the mountains of Crochu and had to hike up, he helped me the entire way.
I always tell Jimmie, “you are the man.” This guy can drive. Haitian traffic is like nothing I have ever experienced. Many of the roads are not paved; so bumpy is an understatement, especially when you are riding in the back. I asked Kellaura today if she thought that horns on cars ever went out for overuse. Jimmie blows the horn constantly to get cars, people, dogs, whatever is in his way to move. He weaves in and out of traffic with ease. Every time he performs his amazing driving skills, Kellaura and I just look at each other and smile. We are so thankful for Jimmie for taking such good care of us.
Jimmie drives Carmel to different locations for nutrition clinics, he drives in to Port-au-Prince to pick up medicine, and he takes people home or wherever they need to go. All patiently and with a huge smile on his face. Thank you God for Jimmie!
Blessings,
Mary Balfour
