Haiti Blog Post 10
Haiti Blog Post 10- January 12, 2012
Today we had the privilege of attending a Eucharist in honor of the 3rd Anniversary of the earthquake. It is good to see progress after three years, but there is so much to be done. What remains of the Cathedral, Holy Trinity still stands and the ruble has not been removed. A very nice temporary structure has been built, but I miss the beautiful art work that gave such life to Holy Trinity.
The Presiding Bishop, The Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts-Schori was in attendance as well as the Bishop of Haiti, The Rt. Rev. Jean-Zache Duracin, the Bishop Suffragan of Haiti, The Rt. Rev. Oge Beavoir, The Bishop of California and the former Bishop Suffragan of Alabama, The Rt. Rev. Marc Andrus, the Chief Operation Officer for the Episcopal Church, The Rt. Rev. Stacy Sauls, and every Haitian Episcopal priest, deacon, and seminarian. The Holy Trinity choir and orchestra were amazing. To say that is was a glorious service is an understatement.
We are having trouble loading pictures on the blog, so please be sure and look at them on facebook. I will admit, I am feely a little weary. The bug bites and cold showers are wearing me down. Kellaura is so wonderful and always reminds me to be present in the moment. I am very thankful to be here and I look forward to what is next.
Blessings,
Mary Balfour
